Tips for Getting the Best Beach Wedding Pictures

Wedding 41

Beach wedding photography is definitely an art. Even though the beach gives you one of the most naturally beautiful backgrounds in existence, there are still plenty of issues that can come up. Here are the tips you need to follow to make sure you end up with frame-worthy photos every time.

Be Aware of the Horizon

Even though the ocean makes a stunning backdrop, you need to always be aware of where the horizon is in relation to your subjects. You don’t want the sharp line it produces directly behind someone’s head, or it will make your finished photo look a little off.

Watch the Lighting

One of the biggest challenges the ocean brings is that it reflects the light. Instead of only having to worry about shadows coming from the sunshine being cast from above, you also have to worry about the light from below. To avoid this, your best bet is to set up any beach wedding photography shoots in the early morning or late afternoon. The sunset or sunrise will give you amazing pictures and you won’t have to fret about unflattering shadows.

Switch it Up

Even though the actual ocean surely deserves its time in the spotlight, don’t forget about all of the other amazing scenery that can be found around you. Rock formations, piers, and pathways can all results in unique photographs. However, use extra caution when maneuvering around these formations because they are likely to be slippery, and the last thing you want is an injury or ruined equipment.

As long as you are aware of your surroundings and lighting, photographing a wedding at the beach can result in some of the most impressive pictures in your portfolio.
