Photos You Shouldn’t Miss When Shooting a Baptism

A baptism is a special time in the life of an individual, whether the individual is an infant, an older child or an adult at the time of the event. Many parents of children, as well as older individuals who are getting baptized, want to have pictures to remember the day. With baptism photography, just like any other special event, it is important to take these special photographs.

Godparents

The godparents are a special part of this religious event. Most parents choose godparents that are close to them, either family members or close friends. The day of the baptism, these individuals will promise to help the parents raise the child in the faith. If you have chosen godparents for your child, make sure you get plenty of photos with your child and his or her godparents, individually and together.

Solo Shots

Some of the most amazing baptism photography shots are those of the child alone in his or her baptismal outfit. Some families even use a traditional gown that has been passed down among generations. In either case, take both close-ups and full body shots of your child, during the ceremony if possible, as well as afterwards. These are some of the photos you will treasure.

The Officiant

The officiant is an important part of the ceremony and should be included in your baptism photography. If you can’t take pictures during the ceremony itself, ask the officiant to stay after the ceremony for a few pictures. These pictures can be meaningful to your child to help him or her remember this day.

Don’t Forget the Parents

Sometimes in the hustle and bustle of the day, the parents forget to take pictures with their child on this special day. Make a special note to include the parents in some of the pictures. Remember, parents are the reason why the child is being baptized in the first place.

Baptism photos can be a complicated process because some churches don’t allow photos during the ceremony. In any case, these photos are all important options to include in your package.
