Arranging the Album

While you have many things to concentrate on getting ready before your wedding day, you can easily overlook your wedding album. You may think, “This is something I can take care of after the big day.” While it is true, you can and will put the album together after the actual event, you should start planning now. After you look over the wedding photo albums styles and pick the one that fits your personality, you have one other major decision. Deciding how you will arrange the album is one of the most important steps and can affect the photos you have taken and the mementos you collect along the way.

Chronologically

The first, and most common, method of arranging your wedding album is chronological. The only danger in this is that it is often skewed towards the beginning of the wedding. You may have plenty of photos of the days leading up to the wedding and perhaps the ceremony, but it tends to “trail off” and fail to adequately represent the reception as well as it does the other events. Setting your album up chronologically is a great way to arrange it, and works well with many wedding photo albums styles, but you do want to be careful you do not miss any important moments.

Thematically

Another method of organizing the wedding album is thematically. This involves you creating a more scrapbook-like memory book. You may choose a page or page spread focusing on the family, one on the dinner, another on the dress, and yet another on “the kiss.” The fun in this type of album is that you can easily plan ahead and incorporate all the elements you find most important. On the contrary, it is easy for this to become scrambled and confusing if you are not careful to plan your layout ahead of time.

These are just two of the options for arranging your wedding album. There are other methods too. The most important thing is creating something that you will enjoy taking out of the hope chest and sharing with friends and family. After the big day is all said and done, all you have are your memories—so it is important to do everything possible to cultivate them for long-term enjoyment.
