3 Tips for Planning Destination Weddings on the Beach

There are few things more romantic than destination weddings on the beach. With the sand between your toes, the wind in your hair, and the sounds of the ocean providing the perfect background noise, the setting really is the perfect place to proclaim your everlasting love for one another. That being said, planning destination weddings can provide a unique set of troubles. Even destination weddings in the Florida Keys, while beautiful, require a little bit of extra planning.

Plan Far Ahead

If you thought the popular wedding spots in your local town filled up fast, you will be shocked at how quickly venues for destination weddings on the beach can fill up. Some are booked up as early as 18 months out, so you better get to planning. As soon as you do have a location booked, make sure to send out Save the Date cards so your loved ones have ample time to request days off from their jobs (some occupations require all requests off to be made at the beginning of the year).

Consider the Costs

Of course you are aware of the costs to you, but you should also be aware of the costs to your guests. Does the destination wedding location you want have affordable flights for family and friends? Are there a variety of hotels available for every price point? You don’t want any loved ones to have to miss your event because you chose somewhere that is just not practical for the average household to afford. That’s why destination weddings in the Florida Keys are so great because you still get the feel that you are in some tropical country far away, but the flights are priced much more reasonably.

Allow Alone Time

Finally, you need to be aware that your loved ones are going to want to spend the entire week with you having fun and making memories. This is great, but you will want to schedule in some time for just you and your future spouse so you can regroup and focus on the reason you are there in the first place.
